Applied Visual Arts

Over the past year I’ve been exploring the various implications that tribalism has in modern society. Tribalism has always played an important role in what it means to be human, from our ancient ancestors benefiting from social groups for safety, to modern humans posting on Facebook about their gym buddies.

Because tribalism permeates so many aspects of society, I felt it was important to understand what motivates people to certain decisions and the dangers of ‘us vs them’ psychology. The series of paintings I created are intended to draw attention to the effects that modern technology and the internet has had on tribalism, and how it influences the way individuals think and behave in tribal social networks.

As an artist I feel most comfortable working with sculpture and painting, but I simply enjoy working with my hand and creating.
