Motion Design

My final project, Transcendence, is the culmination of my love for building complex ideas that are multifaceted, both in visuals and storytelling. The project is composed of character designs based on the vast philosophies on which trans-humanism was built. I considered the way identity, power, the workforce, religion etc would be affected due to trans-humanism, and worked them into the characters.
In addition to trans-humanist theories, ideas and thematics that would be considered rather outside of the box are added into the mix also. I gave cyborgs the bodies of ball jointed dolls to symbolise body modification, and used the concept of the ability of the chess pawn piece to promote into more powerful pieces, in relation to potential workforce pressure to obtain body modification to compete with modified peers. I wanted to challenge myself in bridging concepts that are rather left field throughout my works as a way to improve my skills in creative thinking. The illustrations were made with PaintTool SAI Ver.2.
I have been freelancing as a concept artist and illustrator. I hope to one day work in the gaming industry within a similar field. The skills I learned at Ara will serve me for years to come.
