Motion Design

My final project is about designing characters for an anime, based on superhero satire. I decided to pursue this topic considering my passion for anime since my childhood. In future, I aim to be a part of the anime industry and work as a character designer, or an animator and my topic has already provided me with some insight into the industry.
Superhero satire is a parody on the superhero genre and the compositions for this project are developed in the Japanese anime style. Superheroes are over-represented in anime and naturally superhero satire in anime plays around the same concept. I chose to do a spin on a few famous characters from Marvel, DC and other mainstream heroes in order to ridicule the idea of superheroes saving the day with violence. I’ve used traditional drawing methods and shape dynamics to draw out many rough sketches and some of them were then detailed and digitised in Photoshop.
This project helped me a lot to better understand character design and shape language, and after I complete my studies, I plan to develop and sharpen my skills through different projects and art collaborations.
