My practice seeks to explore histories, both past and present, through analogue and digital photographic processes. It deals predominantly with my lived Māori experience of the everyday, through a documentary style of photography.
The project Conjunction is seeking to contextualise ideas of connection and learning through an intimate and personal collaboration with dear friend and sculptor Sam Towse.
The project involved exploring personal creative practice, interaction, thought and learning process. This project comes in two parts, firstly a photobook Moments before departure, created through the collaboration. Secondly, discussion, teaching and creating imagery, then my analogue documentation of the whole process captured on 35mm film, developing the film, and creating contact sheets showing my viewpoint.
