My ‘Winter Wonder’ collection was based on my work placement with Jessica Flora clothing brand. The brand uses sustainable practices to reduce waste by creating made-to-order clothing with the ability to customise the clothing to suit everyone’s tastes.
The inspiration for the collection stemmed from the architecture of the old National Bank and the historical church buildings in Kurow. The silhouette of the collection was inspired by the decorative mouldings, which influenced my initial concepts and ideas.
For my collection, using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices are important to me as a designer. I used biodegradable fabrics sourced from second-hand stores and sustainable fabric wholesalers to create one-of-a-kind garments. The emerald green, pinks and earthy colours were inspired by the brushlands from the outskirts of the little town of Kurow.
