My collection is entitled Romanticism and was inspired by my work placement with the bridal company Jenny Lea Design. I went to work with Jenny in order to learn technical skills around the fabrics, styles and the essence of bridal work.

I set myself a goal to branch out away from creating traditional bridal-wear and used the influences from my experience to design a collection of romantic bridal-inspired menswear. I utilised traditional bridal fabrics such as silks, organzas, crepe de Chine and lace in a traditional ivory and cream colour palette to maintain the intended feeling of romance and elegance. I complimented these traditional aspects with mixed masculine and feminine silhouettes and features to create a juxtaposition between rigid structure and gentle flow.

This created harmony across the collection to entice the feeling of romance without typical bridal silhouettes, while still utilising the excellent flow and draping properties of my fabrics to bring a soft and regal feeling to the wearer and viewer.
