Photography is my biggest interest and passion. Ever since I was young I wanted to pursue photography and now my dream has come true since studying photography at Ara. I enjoy all aspects of photography. I love storytelling and capturing a moment through photographic works.
My final project focuses on using the Dutch still-life painting style to narrate a story. I was heavily influenced by the Dutch still life masters of the 16th Century whose predominant focus was on the aesthetic over the illustrative. More specifically, their mastery of the representation of light within their paintings has influenced the medium of photography including mine.
This interest in the Dutch masters’ aesthetic led me to explore and understand the way that its style has influenced commercial photography. I wanted to create a body of work that aims to tell the story of a person’s life using their miscellaneous possessions, with my ultimate purpose being to resemble the Dutch master style within the images. Ultimately, I aim to work in the commercial field after graduating and branching into other fields.
